Gramin Samassya Mukti Trust is a registered, non-profit, secular, voluntary organization established in year 1991 and actively working in the field of rural and urban development since past 30 years. It has been established with the specific objectives to solve the livelihood, health and educational issues, which are greatly interlinked. Organization is working with most ignored, socially and economically oppressed communities towards making sustainable development with special emphasizing on women empowerment.

 

The concern areas include empowering community-based organizations; working With them for sustainable development, notably by managing local resources and Mobilizing people into establishing their rights over natural resources such as non-timber forest produce (NTFP), promote sustainable agriculture practices among the farmers and build inclusive value chain to enhance the bargaining power of the small holder farmers. Beside this GSMT is one of the leading civil society organizations involved in the formation of the ecological awareness group in Vidharba — Nisarg Mitra – which takes up issues of joint forest management and the livelihood rights of tribal.

 

GSMT has always believed in adopting a holistic approach to ensure sustainable and overall socio-economic growth for the rural and tribal communities it works for! Therefore, the programmatic interventions are spread over diverse thematic areas.  GSMT has focused in the areas of livelihoods, health, education, empowerment, advocacy and governance.
